Building a Data Culture (Utilizing a Community of Practice Framework)
Becoming a leader in how to best support a diverse student body in achieving success in the 21st century requires innovative initiatives, organization-wide collaboration, re-inspired resources and relationships, and, most importantly, leadership support. Putting people first in this process is paramount – but how do you create a community of practice in a system where everyone is divided into groups and at different skill levels?
UCI’s Data-Driven Student Success initiative – COMPASS – aspires to create a set of exemplary strategies, tools, and approaches that create models for improving institutional performance and advancing educational equity. This presentation will explore strategies and best practices for building, launching, and marketing a vibrant and effective data-driven Community of Practice (CoP.) We will also examine how creating a culture of knowledge-sharing, providing ongoing support and resources, and leveraging technology to enhance collaboration will sustain a CoP. Examples, actionable tips, and insights will be shared throughout for attendees looking to launch or strengthen their own CoP.
