Astrud Reed, UCI Compass Community of Practice Manager (OIT/ODIT), is a dynamic professional with a proven track record as a creative strategist, innovative trainer, marketing / data analyst, and thought leader in the academic and technology sectors. 2021 UC Berkeley School of Public Health SPOT AWARD for Efforts Exceeding Expectations on the Diverse Procurement Task Force Initiative

Nominated by UC Berkeley School of Public Health Assistant Dean and Chief Financial Officer, Emily Schwarz

Astrud was awarded the School of Public Health SPOT AWARD in May 2021, as a part of the Staff Achievement and Recognition (STAR) award program, for “efforts in the above and beyond category on the BPH Diverse Procurement Task Force Initiative to create diverse procurement practices and a customized BearBuy dashboard that will ultimately benefit the School and the University.” The initiative was presented to the School on 10/20/21 and will provide a new purchasing system dashboard designed by Astrud to show buyers current diverse vs non-diverse spending, alternative diverse suppliers for regularly consumed commodities/services, and how to easily find and add local, diverse vendors to the Berkeley purchasing system. The dashboard includes resources, job aids, and contact info not previously compiled in one place. The School of Public Health Diversity in Procurement Initiative will be used as a template for the rest of the UC Berkeley campus.

Junior Data Culture and Governance Analyst

Wafa is a Junior Data Culture & Governance Analyst at the University of California, Irvine’s Office of Information Technology (OIT). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Informatics with a specialization in Human-Computer Interaction from UC Irvine, blending her expertise in user experience, digital accessibility, and web development to enhance IT operations and workflows.

Wafa leads efforts in managing and updating OIT websites and SharePoint platforms, ensuring they are well-maintained, accessible, and aligned with organizational goals. She is also responsible for supporting student data governance initiatives such as managing student health data requests, ensuring they are processed efficiently and in alignment with governance standards. She also focuses on IT process improvements, developing standardized documentation for future data warehouses and leading accessibility initiatives to enhance OIT WordPress websites, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards. Outside of work, Wafa enjoys staying active, exploring new restaurants, and playing tennis.

Eufemia Palomino

Programmer Analyst

Eufemia is an experienced data professional specializing in business intelligence for the Data & Information Management division of the Office of Information Technology at the University of California, Irvine. With a strong background in data querying and reporting, Eufemia helps faculty and staff leverage BI Tools, such as IBM Cognos and Tableau, to extract meaningful insights from curated data sources. Eufemia has developed training programs to empower UCI staff with practical analytics skills in offices such as Office of Research, Accounting, Purchasing, Budget, and Student Data. She is dedicated to fostering a data-literate campus community and streamlining institutional reporting processes. Passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), Eufemia actively volunteers to bring awareness to these issues within OIT.   

Chloe Chan

Strategic Innovations and Data Intern

Chloe is a third year Business Information Management student and Strategic Innovations and Data Intern under the Compass Community of Practice. She is responsible for system analyzing the MAPSS and DataGPS program, web designing, and developing platforms and presentations while also contributing to project management efforts, branding and backend operations.  

She is also an intern for the Chief Executive Roundtable where she engages with UCI alumni, senior administrative leaders, trustees, and the top performing companies of Orange County, discussing key university and business issues as well as cultivating strategic business connections. Besides her work commitments, Chloe is also involved in the Paul Merage Business and Donald Bren Information and Computer Science communities through MAISS, Management Information Student Society, as the Vice President of Marketing. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the SoCal area for good eats and spending time with her friends and family.
